Today we reviewed the Byzantine basics again, checked over the Russian Icon Museum booklets, and then watched a very frantic, yet informative, video that provided a "crash course" in Russian history.
A few things to remember:
1. Kiev was the major trading center of Russia until the Mongol invasions of the mid-1200s.
2. Kiev was replaced by Moscow.
3. Moscow became the center of Russian culture, and the Eastern Orthodox Church.
4. Russian leadership evolved from multiple princes to one autocratic ruler, who typically ruled Russia with ruthless efficiency and had little tolerance for opposition.
