Today, in all classes except B period, we discussed a new component of class:
the Philology Log ("Phlog")
When you arrive in class each day, look to see if there is a new quote in the Medieval Philology box on the front board. If so, please attempt to analyze the quote in your own self-created Philology Log. My hope is that you will be able to learn about these medieval cultures by examining them in their own words, or in the famous words of others. A few things to remember:

If so, please attempt to analyze the quote in your own self-created Philology Log. My hope is that you will be able to learn about these medieval cultures by examining them in their own words, or in the famous words of others. A few things to remember:
- Don't worry about copying the quote down, unless you feel it will help you.
- Try to figure out the meaning of the quote on your own first, then collaborate.
- Keep your Phlog organized to get the most out of it; I will be checking these periodically (unannounced), and it will become a part of your class participation grade.
- My hope is that you will be able to use these quotes as a way to gain a better sense of the cultures we study, so as time goes on, leave some room for notes on your Phlog if you want to annotate as we discuss them in class.
