Please watch these two videos, read the article, and brainstorm a list of all modern day countries once a part of the Mongol Empire. Some thoughts on the documentary, Chechnya: Republic of Contrasts
1. Remember our discussion about the general history of the region (Caucasus) 2. Use this to remember that all Muslims aren't Arabs: the Muslims shown here are Europeans, in Russia. 3. Interesting to see the impact of modern technology and rebuilding after the devastating wars. 4. Notice the traditional ways that are still kept by the Chechan people. Don't forget to try to find your own connections between CCA #23 and the in-class reading. You will be able to use your notes, and will have a hard copy of both articles to use as reference. It presents a completely different opinion than both the in-class essay you have read, and the information presented by the textbook.
